Since Republicans are consumers like everyone else, why do they oppose comsumer protection and Elizabeth?

Whenever the government tells us it's going to protect consumers, it's really just trying to grab more power over business and the consumers themselves while making lucrative deals with the biggest corporations. We don't need any more consumer protection laws. We need government to get out of the way so that smaller businesses will get to play on a level playing field and compliance costs won't continue to inflate the prices of goods and services.
