Taking a 5 week old baby on an 8 hour car ride?

I think it would be to much for a newborn to be in a car for eight hours. She might get motion-sick from being in a car for to long and may not be able to sustain herself because of a hotter temperature inside the car. If you do decide to bring her, be sure to keep her hydrated. She's most likely going to be asleep for the whole eight hours anyway. Remember to roll down the windows or keep on the air-conditioning.
